I was honestly considering dropping out of NTM for a bit. The Facebook groups alone were what was really keeping me involved. Facebook groups are such a great asset to have in this business. But now we have portfolio work, WOW this is freakin amazing. Thanks guys. Y’all continue to make this better !

Rookie question here!What does that five track(17 ROYER H , 18 ROYER R , 19 U87 H , 20 U87 R , 21 ROOM LENGTH) means? I guess these is the OH & ROOM,but i just don’t understand why it doesn’t named as “ROYER L&R”,”U87 L&R”,”ROOM”, I’m not really understand the “H”,”R”,”Length”.
the H and R mean Hi Hat side & Ride side
Pretty sure those are all room mics. HR means Hihat and Ride sides, that works better than LR, I think.
H for Hats, R for Ride, that’s what I’m assuming

I wonder what bass guitar was used for this track. I guess it’s already compressed while tracking? I never get my ‘Fender Jazz’ or ‘Musicman Stingray’ that full and ‘heavy’ in sound.
should be the DI… For example if you DI with an ISA One you get a very phat and full bass sound

what should i do with those “midi” tracks? they dont give me any sound…. Noob question i guess, please help 🙁
I hope by now you have figured it out but if not, run the midi through a sample like Steven Slate Drums. Not sure how it works in samplers other than SSD4, but I set each midi track’s output to different SSD4 channel inputs so that everything triggers within the sampler. After that I open the Slate Drums and set each output to some Aux tracks I made in Pro Tools so I can run my plugins on the sample sounds. It can get pretty complex with all of routing, but in the end it will give you way more control.
I finished my mix today and then checked on the original and mine sounds so wimpy..haha. Damn.

Hi Guys. Did anyone have an issue with the midi drums on this track? I use cubase pro 9.5 and when I imported the midi files they dont seem to line up with the
recorded tracks and drums at all. I tried moving it in time code and the beginning lines up but then it goes completely out of sync, I routed all the midi
information to my EZ drummer software. Also I set the BPM to match but still nothing is lining up. Its as if the midi is importing as a completely different tempo.

Did you try starting a new session via opening the midi?
That is because you probably imported it into a 44.1 kHz project. Set the project sample rate to 48 kHz before importing the midi and the wave files so that no resampling occurs. Otherwise you have to shrink the midi so that it plays 48/44.1=1.088 times faster to match the resampled wave. But this will cause you a 141 BPM tempo and a faster song 🙂
