01 IMPORTANT How To Get The Most Out Of Your Fast Track
First off, if you’re a member of URM Enhanced or Starter, please bring questions about this Fast Track (or any other audio question) to our monthly QNA Chat. If you’re a member of URM Enhanced you can also book a One on One session and ask there.
You can also post questions in the Private Producer’s Club.
Here’s how to get the most out of this fast track:
- Watch the entire Fast Track once – Watch all the videos, read the text, and download any assets we’ve provided. Don’t put any of this into action until you’ve watched the whole thing. This will help you understand the bigger picture.
- Complete the Fast Track in order – The second time through, take it step by step. This Fast Track is progressive. Every step builds on the last. Master a step before you move onto the next one.
It should take you anywhere from a few days to a week to get through this Fast Track. You could get through it in one night, but that won’t do you as much good as taking it slow and incorporating each concept into your workflow.
Here’s a video showing you how to use the Fast Track interface…
01 Meet Your Instructor
I have been a hardcore guitar nerd since 1994 and what you would call an ‘audio guy’ since 2011.
My primary audio output has been through my YouTube Channel Riffs, Beards & Gear but I am also the audio engineer for Internet guitar/comedian Rob Scallon. Other works include all sorts of mix jobs for Wheezy Waiter, and even a song for a Ron Howard short film. I also love playing loud rock shows when I get time!
I have worked for companies such as Two Notes Audio Engineering and Positive Grid, so I feel like I have a good grasp on where the future of guitar and guitar tones are going. As platforms get smaller and smaller the challenge is to make the guitar sounds themselves sound larger and larger.
Over the years I have learned what I know in the audio world through making many, many mistakes. Learning from your own mistakes is what will make you a better mix engineer and develop your ear. Be open, be receptive.
Check those preconceptions and egos at the door and lets buckle down and learn some shit!
All set? Lets go!
